Bright Eyes is Conor Oberst. The young singer has been hailed as “the emo Bob Dylan” and shown himself to be an equally prolific and talented songwriter. He hails from Omaha, Nebraska, which for the past decade has become a hotbed of indie rock, yielding numerous bands as well as a respected label, Saddle Creek Records (founded by Oberst).

Last year, he leapt into the mainstream, touring with Bruce Springsteen as part of the “Vote for Change” tour and scoring two top Billboard singles with “Lua” and “Take It Easy (Love Nothing).” But he still works extensively with his fellow Omahans — the revolving lineup of Bright Eyes has included members of numerous Omaha bands, including The Faint and Cursive.
