The Shirts, James Pants, Pissed Jeans, The Cardigans, and now Blouse. Clothes-related names for bands aren’t really rock ‘n’ roll but Blouse’s single is harder-wearing than their name. “Into Black” is a veiled and hazy dreampop shadow that glides along on a percussive heartbeat, warm waves of synthesiser, and the singer’s almost ethereal vocal. The “chillwave” tag doesn’t do it sufficient justice, and there’s a splash of Goth – i.e. The Cure – in the sound. “Firestarter,” on the flip, is a satisfying blast of nostalgia, the sound of euphoric, ecstatic ’80s synthpop.
