The Internet is a big place. Trim the fat and have a listen to some of our favorite songs that came out this week, from pop to hip hop and everything in between. Check back each Friday for a briefing on what you missed in music.[spacer height=”12px”]

Despot: “House of Bricks”

Rapper Despot’s been working on his debut for what feels like a decade. “House of Bricks,” with it’s The Three Little Pigs-inspired chorus and Dr. Seuss citations, leads me to believe he began perfecting this thing during his terrible twos.[spacer height=”5px”]

Hamilton Leithauser + Paul Maroon: “Proud Irene”

Oh, Hammy. You just can’t stay away, can you?[spacer height=”5px”]

Zebras: “The Turning of the Bones”

Zebras is arguably Madison’s hardest band. And if their latest single, the demolishing, drum-sick “The Turning of the Bones,” is any indication of their upcoming The City of the Sun, well… they sure as shit aren’t getting any softer.[spacer height=”5px”]

Mabel: “Know Me Better”

If that last track wasn’t for you, this one probably is.[spacer height=”5px”]

Protomartyr: “Why Does It Shake?”

The martyrs of Motor City are back! Just one year after Protomartyr released the criminally underrated Under Color of Official Right, they’ve returned with news of a new LP and “Why Does It Shake,” a song that shows they’ve already settled into another new, glorious sound.[spacer height=”5px”]

YG: “Twist My Fingaz”

Does YG actually proclaim that he’s “the only one that made it out the West without Dre” on the Terrance Martin-produced “Twist My Fingaz”? Click the “play” button to find out![spacer height=”5px”]

Dilly Dally: “Desire”

My new favorite band or GTFO.[spacer height=”5px”]
