Brooklyn’s Tanlines will be releasing their debut LP Mixed Emotions on March 20. In advance of its release, they have put out a track from the album entitled “Brothers”.
A synth-pop masterpiece if there ever was one, “Brothers” is a window to the direction that Tanlines is heading musically. The song is a rhythmic sensation that causes a feeling of familiarity for the listener. Suffice it to say, Tanlines may very well end up having the best debut record of 2012. Their uncanny ability to produce deep meaning lyrically while simultaneously creating a well-crafted melody that is memorable is a sight to behold.
It is this writer’s opinion that Tanlines will be a presence in the indie community for years to come. Synth-pop is a genre that has flooded the music scene as of late but where many bands have been unable to capture the imagination of their listeners, this duo is in the process of generating something that goes above and beyond expectations.
