Slime is London based Will Archer, and at 19 years old he already seems to be edging it on his competitors. Flowing with solid beats, shimmering guitars and whispered tones Increases is one of the finest debut EP’s we have heard for a long time. Archer’s strengths band between his guitar sounds and a knack for a soul-tripping atmosphere.
The electric guitar strums throughout “Caffeine” as keys flood through the various openings, the beat meanwhile stops and starts with the push of a button. “2 Player” finds a soulful vocal in the distance, the rhythm snaps and the guitars ethereally move across the excellent track. The set continually impresses with a collection of clouded layers, all piled delicately upon one another – the drums flittering with break-beats and straight-up simplicity. And as “Next Time” breaks it down, only to start back up, with what sounds like a twisted clarinet, it just sweeps you along with its effortless ambience – which seems to come rather easy to Mr. Archer.
