Even if the name Carter Tanton doesn’t immediately ring a bell, we’re betting you’re already familiar with the Maryland-bred musician. After all, this guy is a true shapeshifter.
Just within the past few years, he’s already worked with artists like Marissa Nadler and Twin Shadow, won a cult following under the moniker Tulsa, and is currently a member of the band Lower Dens. And now the busy New York resident is back with a yet another projec — but this time around, it’s under his own name.
Tanton’s forthcoming full-length solo album Freeclouds is an indie gem that reminds us of cross-country road trips, early mornings, and basically the best things about fall (and his dreamy voice isn’t too bad, either). The album won’t drop until November, but get to know Carter Tanton now.
