WEEKEND VIDEO

Bon Iver’s latest self-titled release is full of pastoral hymns, acoustic sadness and Justin Vernon’s signature falsetto high notes that kill on command (well, maybe not). So to follow up their weird-ass video for “Calgary,” the Wisconsin band hired Nabil Elderkin (Kanye West, Frank Ocean) and let him loose along the beautiful glacial coasts of Iceland.

In case you didn’t know, Holocene is the geological epoch that started around 10,000 BC and stretches to the common era (thanks, Wikipedia!). So naturally Vernon and co. chose the rocky, picturesque landscapes of Iceland to be traversed by a small boy.

“Holocene” (MP3) follows the story of a boy who is king of his own world for a day. He gets up on his own, dons a comfy sweater and heads out of his earthen home, walking stick in hand toward the towering Icelandic rocks that have been there since the Bronze Age.
