Voxhaul Broadcast are hardly what you’d expect. This Orange County four-piece have a rock and soul sound and swagger that could be just as easily at home in Manchester as it is in their native Los Angeles. This is a pretty damn cool band, and the vibe “Leaving on the 5th” couldn’t be more fitting. If there’s such a thing as “road trip” music, this might be it, regardless of the season. The quartet of David Dennis, Anthony Aguiar, Phillip Munsey II, and Kurt Allen do an exceptional job of mixing soul and rock elements, David Dennis in particular with his fantastic guitar work and throw back rock-n-roll vocal style. It’s easy to see why fans on both sides of the Atlantic have taken notice to these talented lads. The band has released several EPs (Rotten Apples was their debut EP in 2008); however, Timing is Everything is their first full-length album and a powerful statement about the new future of this band. What do they sound like? Sort of a Cold War Kids meets Otis Redding meets early Kings of Leon. Give this a listen and then go explore some of their other material.
