“Lofticries”
from the single Ungirthed
2011

At the forefront of a new and interesting wave of music are Corin Roddick (drums, guitar, keys) and Meghan James (vocals) aka, Purity Ring. They are part of the freak folk electro rock group Gobble Gobble and went rogue a couple months ago to start Purity Ring which has a sound I can only describe like an indie-synthpop sundae that then puts a mellow yet glitchy dubstep syrup over everything. They have some how managed to sprout out from underneath the over saturated “blogpop” soil full of kids with computers and a microphones, and created something really catchy and easy to cruise to. “Ungirthed” is their first single, “Lofticries” the B-side release, and they both bridge the gap between indie pop and the dubstep remixes that usually follow. It’s cool to see a duo that just gets rid of the middle man DJ/producer and creates songs that sound remixed already.
