Rogue Wave may best be known for either the inclusion of single “Lake Michigan” in a Microsoft Zune commercial a few years back or the fact that “Your Eyes” was featured on the first episode of Heroes. In 2009 the band had to deal with the death of a former bandmate and a slew of health related problems, but are returning in 2010 with a new album, Permalight, set to be released March 2 via Brushfire. The first single is the track “Good Morning,” whose skittering drums and general electro-pop sound are a hard left turn for the band but in accordance with Zach Rogue’s desire to make a dance record. Bursting with frenetic energy, “Good Morning” is glittering and happy but not entirely profound or original, coming out on just the right side of the Owl City dividing line of homage and ripoff.
