The biggest thing to come out of Russia since t.A.T.u.? For such a large, geopolitically important country, it seems like not that many international acts come out of Russia. Could this be due to remaining cold war tensions? Two decades after the wall fell, Tesla Boy is a three-piece out of Moscow, and if you couldn’t tell by the group’s name, they’re big fans of circuits. Seeming to come out of the post-Cut Copy era of “all guy synth bands that don’t suck” (Friendly Fires, Phoenix‘s new sound, etc.), the glittering instrumentation carries “Electric Lady” from start to finish. The lyrics rest entirely on the laurels of the line, “I wanna make love with you all night,” which sounds kind of dangerous if this girl is as high voltage as the song’s title says.
