If you lived in the northern part of Sweden where the sun rarely shines and the winters are long, your music would be totally depressing, too. So, you’ve got to cut The Perishers some slack if they sound down. Finding despair in everything from the workweek (“Weekends”) to, well, sleeping (“Trouble Sleeping”), the foursome delivers a somber but addictive debut. (Okay, there’s some hope in there, like with the brighter “Sway” and “A Reminder.”) Coldplay comparisons are instantly apparent, but you get the feeling that these guys aren’t going to end up with movie-star girlfriends. And that just makes their melancholy that much more endearing. ~ E! Online
